The History of Bardarski GeranBardarski geran was founded in 1887 by Banat Bulgarians – descendants of refugees from the catholic villages in the region of Nikolpol and Svishtov. They had fled following the defeat of the Chiprovtsi rebellion in 1688. Bulgarian catholics emigrated to the Banat region, at that time being part of the Austro –Hungarian Empire. After the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1878, they returned and founded five villages – Dragomirovo, Gostilya, Bregare, Asenovo, and Bardarski geran, all of them within the territory of the Nikopol catholic eparchy.
